UA Named Top Five Military Friendly School

The Department of Veteran and Military Affairs (VMA) works hard every year to facilitate programs and services to service members, student veterans, dependents and survivors in order to make college life easier for them all around. The Military Friendly® Company has recognized The University of Alabama as military friendly since 2012; and in recent years, the Capstone has continuously ranked among the top ten. This year, VMA and Student Life are incredibly proud to announce that UA has been designated a top five Military Friendly® school!
The Military Friendly® Company surveys organizations and institutions that commit to serving both active and former members of the United States Armed Forces. It utilizes six different parameters when gauging a university’s military friendly status: academic policies and compliance, admissions and orientation, culture and commitment, financial aid and assistance, graduation and career and military student support and retention. When measuring the Capstone, Military Friendly® found that UA exceeds standards across all six categories. UA has excelled in these categories since 2012, but what launched the University into the top five is the addition of a Veterans Affairs clinic on campus for VA students, faculty and staff. This clinic is the first of its kind in a pilot program; no other university in the country has one!
VMA Director David Blair is proud of the hard work that his team, Student Life and the University as a whole put into the veteran community at UA. In addition to this fantastic distinction, UA was also named a top five (number 4) Military Spouse Friendly® school! This designation helps military spouses select schools that will support them in their education journey by meeting their unique needs as a part of a military family.
