“When I first came to UA, it was a big adjustment from high school. I went to a very small, private high school, where I was a big fish in a small pond. Then I became a small fish in a big pond.
Dr. Hebson paired me with a great mentor who really helped me. He was a guidance counselor to me. He walked me through everything, and taught me about all the tools I needed to succeed. He was the best helping hand during my transition from high school to college.
As a mentor myself now, I have really tried to replicate that mentorship. I’ve had multiple mentees, and seeing the changes that I’ve been able to help them make over one semester has been very gratifying. It has meant a lot to me to know that I’ve helped make a difference in their lives. There are few things more special than the feeling of knowing you’ve helped someone.”
