Completing the Fall Semester

Dear Students,

Whether you are a first-year UA student, a graduating senior, a graduate student or somewhere in between, the Fall 2020 semester has been one we will not forget. I am proud of the resilience and tenacity you have shown this semester. You faced unprecedented challenges and remained committed to your educational goals.

As you prepare to leave campus, I encourage you to stay vigilant in your commitment to health and safety – for yourselves, for your families and for each other. Wear your mask. Socially distance from others. Wash your hands. And take extra precautions if you’re traveling home.

Remember, UA is offering COVID exit testing from now through the December holiday break. You can find more information and schedule a test online. Be sure to research testing requirements for your airline and/or travel destination, which may include verification of a recent negative test.

As you complete the fall semester virtually, know that we are here to support you through the Capstone Center for Student Success and our tips to finish strong. Following finals week, I hope you enjoy some rest, relaxation and time with family and friends.

If you live off-campus, remember to take the following steps before you leave your Tuscaloosa residence:

  • Close your blinds and curtains.
  • Lock your doors, deadbolts and windows.
  • Leave an inside light on.
  • Take valuables and electronics with you.
  • Clean out your refrigerator and dispose of perishable foods.
  • Take out your trash (and bring in the container if you have curbside pick-up).
  • Take patio furniture inside.
  • Unplug appliances except your refrigerator.

Drive carefully, and take a few minutes to review the information in UAPD’s Safer Living Guide.

Finish strong, enjoy your break and Roll Tide!
