The mission of the Intercultural Diversity Center is to advance The University of Alabama’s commitment to cultivating and respecting diversity by serving as a resource and liaison for students, staff, and faculty on issues of equity through education, outreach, and advocacy. To achieve this mission, the center is dedicated to:

  • Collaborating with campus partners, in particular those that work  with women, students of color, LGBTQ students, first-generation students, international students, students with disabilities, and students with active religious affiliations to create a safe, supportive, and empowering community for all, regardless of identity.
  • Encouraging productive and honest conversations about race, gender, sexuality, religious affiliation, and ability through the use of art, music, programming, and other methods to expose students to the importance of diversity and inclusion.

We envision a University of Alabama where people of all identities and experiences are heard, respected, and fully included in the community in order to allow equitable treatment and outcomes to prevail.
