Tobacco Strategic Team

Accomplishments

  • Obtained support from the Faculty Senate and from the Professional Staff Assembly for a proposal to eliminate smoking from within thirty feet of the entrance of buildings on campus.  The proposal was turned down by the SGA (by a vote of 18-21).  The SGA discussion took place just days after the City of Tuscaloosa implemented their ban on smoking in restaurants before 10p.m.  Much of the discussion centered around information which was incorrect.  The resolutions have been sent to the Provost from the FS and PSA.
