Charge

  • Explore and recommend approaches (strategies, practices, policies) to changing the culture among UA students to healthier attitudes and practices regarding body image and eating disorders

Strategies

  • Providing leadership in adopting and developing best practices to address prevention of disordered eating on campus
  • Providing leadership in adopting and developing best practices to address the current state of individuals on campus with disordered eating and behaviors on campus
  • Assessing the process and student learning outcomes related to disordered eating initiatives and programs
  • Promoting education, understanding, and collaboration across the Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Financial Affairs divisions to engage students in critical thinking regarding student health and well-being as it relates to disordered eating issues on campus
  • Providing a mechanism for recommendations from a diverse group of faculty and staff to the Vice Presidents of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs

Current actions of the team

  • Supported and assisted with planning of Eating Disorder Awareness week
  • Developed an eating disorder assessment to determine the knowledge of our community and needs regarding eating disorders on campus.
  • Exploring the possibility of having an eating disorder treatment team on UA’s campus

Past accomplishments of the Team

  • Supported the Eating Disorders Awareness Week activities
  • Arranged for Dr. Mike Perko to conduct a workshop on the issue of Supplements
