The departments within the Division of Student Affairs host a variety of programs and events throughout the year. The majority of events are planned in collaboration with other departments and units on campus to maximize each student's learning experience both inside and outside the classroom. A few of the major events held each year are highlighted below:

Week of Welcome (WOW)

Week of Welcome is a large series of events hosted by the University to help freshman and transfer students in their transition to academic and student life at the Capstone.

Get on Board Day

Get on Board Day, the student organization fair sponsored by The SOURCE, is designed to get students involved in some of the 350 campus organizations available at UA. The event offers a “one-stop shop” for exploring what student organizations have to offer and is held in August and January each year.

Hall of Fame

The Student Affairs Hall of Fame, located in the Ferguson Student Union, is named in honor of former history professor and beloved Director of Honors Day, Dr. Warner "Lanny" Moore. The Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding contributions to student life and culture at the Capstone. An induction ceremony is held each September.

Family Weekend

During Family Weekend, parents and family members are invited to campus for the opportunity to experience student life, as well as attend events hosted by the Office of Parent Programs. These functions are designed to allow parents to meet one another, become more familiar with University staff and administrators, and spend time with their students.

Homecoming

Homecoming at UA is a week-long celebration each October featuring events, entertainment, and fun activitites and competitions. Homecoming is also an opportunity for alumni, family and visitors to take part in the unique experience offered by The University of Alabama.

Honors Week

The scholarship and leadership of UA students and faculty are honored each April during Honors Week. UA's colleges, schools and departments hold special events and activities during the week, a tradition since the early 1900s.

Commencement

Tradition at The University of Alabama culminates every May, August and December at Commencement as Coleman Coliseum is filled with excitement and graduating students receive their diplomas.
